Tracking Your Guest Post

One of the main incentives for a blogger to guest post is that exposure of their writing to a new audience will produce new visitors to your main blog. For precisely this reason, it's a good idea for your guest post to begin with a brief autobiography, containing hyperlinks to your web page and social networking ID. It's also worth repeating these in a signature at the bottom of your post if it's long enough for your readers to need to scroll. You want to try to guarantee that an interested reader will follow you back to your own site.

From now on, I'll be converting any links in submitted guest blog posts so that they will track clicks and statistics. Using this it'll be possible to find out just how effective your guest spot has been. In the near future, I'm hoping to put all that information on a 'dashboard' page, so you can check your stats at any time.

We'll see how it goes - just remember, getting traffic back to you is the whole motivation for you to submit, so make sure you include backlinks in your submissions!

Remember, all it takes is emailing your posts to post@guestblogme.posterous.com - and you're guest blogging! Tweet @guestblogme with any questions or suggestions.
