Submitting a post, step-by-step

Here's what to do if you'd like to guest post on this site!

What you'll need:

  • A Twitter account;
  • An e-mail program, preferably one with 'rich text'. In other words, pretty much anything modern will do.
  • A wonderful piece of writing that needs some more love and affection (and doesn't violate the Posterous Terms Of Service. Please!).

What to do:

  • Create a new email and address it to post@guestblogme.posterous.com;
  • Write the title of your post in the Subject line;
  • Add ' ((tag: yourtwittername))' to the Subject line, so I know you're a real person and can find you on Twitter;
  • Write a short bio at the top. Put it in italics so it stands out from the rest of your post. Include links so your new fans can find you. This one is perfect;
  • Copy and paste your blog post into the rest of the e-mail. I'll take original posts too, if you don't have a blog;
  • Send it and I'll do the rest. DM me on Twitter as well, just in case I'm away from the computer.

What you might want to do:

  • Attach or embed some media. Music, pictures, links to external video, it's all good. Posterous is really smart;
  • Retweet any alerts I might send out. Tell your friends all about your guest post;
  • Tell any of your blogger friends all about what I do;
  • Look out for fellow guest bloggers in my updates. The more visits they get, the more visits you'll get, too. It's good karma.
  • Posterous will create a new site just for you - up to you if you'd like to use it!

What I'll do:

  • I'll make sure you haven't tried to sneak in anything under the radar that breaks the rules. But you wouldn't do that, right?
  • I'll publish your post, not only here, but to a handful of other mirror sites as well;
  • I'll promote your site on Twitter, including retweets in multiple timezones;
  • I'll keep you posted of your site's views;
  • And maybe, one day, I'll collect all the posts in a book. Who knows?

What your readers will do:

  • They'll discover great writing that they've never got a chance to read before;
  • They'll follow you on Twitter, follow the links back to your blog, and subscribe to it;
  • They might even tell their Twitter followers how great your post is, too;
  • They might even tell their friends about this site. Helps me, helps you, helps everyone.

Contact me on Twitter with any questions, and above all, let's have some fun!
